The colour of the indoor kitchen was yet again used for creating a duet between the visioned countertop and bench all together with the kitchen VARES has established for themselves.
While building the counter and adjusting details together, I was also on the look out for where to potentially exhibit my pieces.
The name of the project started coming together with my overall concept of building only from gathered / forgotten materials- It felt natural to call the project Leftovers for that is exactly what the structure and mentality behind it stands for.
Gradually I realised that the plot next to our residency is an abandoned garden, bearing tasty fruits on its wonderful treetops. I was mapping out the territory and to my surprise found many apple , pear and plumb trees. Berry bushes and grape vines are there, that still have the stamina to grow lushes crops although it looks like no one has been taking care of the yard for years.
It looks like there was a lot of love and attention drawn to the place in the past, which made me empathetic towards the forgotten potential of a plot as such. I gathered apples and plumbs from the trees and decided to plan the meals for our exhibition opening around food I could forage from the plot and leftovers from our own kitchen.
